Many MFFLs remember the contest we had where fans could guess when Dirk Nowitzki would pass Shaquille O’Neal for sixth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. And while most of us will never take the floor in an NBA game, a lot of you are pretty good fortune tellers.
1,433 of you entered our contest, and more than half of the entries — 783, to be exact — guessed the correct game: at Brooklyn on Dec. 23. Of those guesses, 145 guessed the right game and right quarter: the second. Not bad work by some of the Mavs’ smartest fans.
Chase, one lucky fan who guessed the correct game and quarter, was chosen at random as the winner of the contest. He received a signed photo of Dirk’s shot that passed Shaq, an autographed Nowitzki Hardwood Classics jersey, a team signed ball, and a pair of tickets to the Mavs/Pelicans game on Jan. 2.
Thanks to all who participated in the contest, and congratulations to Chase! As it relates to Nowitzki, keep your eyes on the next big milestone the Big German is approaching: 30,000 career points. As it stands right now, he’s less than 1,400 points away from 30K, and he’d become just the sixth player in the history of basketball to reach the milestone.
