1. DONCIC REACHES ANOTHER MILESTONE: Another game, another milestone reached by Luka Doncic. The flashy rookie point guard finished Tuesday’s contest with a game-high 28 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high tying 12 assists. Doncic now has seven triple-doubles on the season, tying him with Magic Johnson (1979-’80) for the third-most by a rookie. It also ties Johnson for the most triple-doubles in NBA history by a player under 21 years old. In addition, the 20-year old Doncic had his second-best outing from the charity stripe when he’s attempted at least eight free throws, as he was 10-of-11 from the line fine for 90.9 percent. That’s topped only by the 11-of-12 performance (91.7 percent) Doncic produced from the free throw line during a Dec. 26 win over New Orleans.
  2. CAREER NIGHT FOR POWELL: Not only did Dwight Powell enjoy one of his best games of the season Tuesday night against the Kings, but he also walked away with arguably the best game of his career. When all was said and done, Powell scored 21 points, pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds, distributed three assists and blocked a career-high four shots. In addition, he was 6-of-7 from the field and 9-of-11 from the free throw line in 32 minutes. The only game Powell has played that comes close to rivaling those numbers was the Mar. 6 contest at Washington. In that game Powell tallied a career-high 26 points, grabbed 10 boards, handed out a pair of assists and was 11-of-12 from the field and 3-of-6 from the charity stripe in 36 minutes.
  3. CONSECUTIVE GEMS BY KLEBER: Maxi Kleber has been on a pretty good roll the past two games. During that span in games against the two-time defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, Kleber has scored 33 points, collected 13 rebounds and was 12-of-19 from the field for 63.2 percent, and 8-of-14 from beyond the 3-point arc for 57.1 percent. The 33 points are the most points Kleber has scored during a two-game span in his two-year career. Against the Kings, Kleber was 6-of-10 from the floor and 4-of-8 from behind the 3-point line, and he also snatched four boards. That came after Saturday’s outing against Golden State when he tallied 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds and was 6-of-9 from the field and 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
  4. BROEKHOFF CONTINUES HIS HOT HAND: Ryan Broekhoff backed up his two double-digit scoring games entering Tuesday’s contest with yet another one on Tuesday. Broekhoff scored 11 points off the bench against the Kings in 29 minutes. It marked the first time all season that the rookie from Australia has poured in 10 or more points in three consecutive games. And it comes on the heels of the career-high 17 points he tallied last Saturday against the Warriors, and the 13 points he scored at Sacramento last Thursday. On Tuesday, Broekhoff was 3-of-5 from 3-point land and his plus-15 point differential tied with the Kings’ Buddy Hield for the second-highest point differential in the game. In the past three games Broekhoff was 13-of-19 from the field and 9-of-15 from beyond the 3-point line.
  5. TOO MUCH FOX AND HIELD: During the Kings’ 116-100 win over the Mavs last Thursday in Sacramento, De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield scored 28 points apiece. That backcourt duo was again a thorn in the Mavs’ side on Tuesday as Fox finished with 23 points, five rebounds and eight assists, and Hield added 17 points and five rebounds. Fox and Hield was particularly effective down the stretch when they combined to score 18 of the Kings’ final 21 points. Ten of those points came from Fox and eight came from Hield. Also, the Kings outscored the Mavs in the paint (58-38), on fast break points (22-4) and on second-chance points (22-14).
