Grant Williams was born on November 30, 1998 in Houston, Texas. His family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina shortly after. Williams went to college at the University of Tennessee where he was an All-SEC player as a freshman, sophomore and junior. He was also awarded back-to-back SEC Player of the Year honors for the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons, becoming the first player to do so since 1995, and was named a consensus First-team All-American in 2019. Grant was drafted 22nd overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. Williams has made a name for himself through his impressive defensive skills, high basketball IQ, and ability to contribute in multiple positions.
