The Mavericks will host an in-season tournament game for the first time on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at American Airlines Center when they entertain the Los Angeles Clippers.
This is the second of four qualifying games the Mavs will play in this first-ever NBA tournament. Last Friday in Denver they dropped a 125-114 decision to the defending world champions in their first-ever in-season tournament game.
Houston, New Orleans, the Nuggets and Clippers are the teams stationed in the Mavs’ in-season tournament group, and Dallas will play each of those teams one time in the in-season tourney.
In the end, the in-season tournament quarterfinals will be played Dec. 4-5 before the surviving teams travel to Las Vegas to play the semifinals on Dec. 7 and the championship game on Dec. 9.
Each member of the championship winning team will collect a $500,000 check.
*This is the finale of a short two-game home stand for the Mavs. The home stand started with Wednesday’s 127-116 loss to the Toronto Raptors. After Friday’s game, the Mavs hit the road for a four-game trip.
