About the Mavericks: This is the finale of a 10-day, five-game road trip. The Mavs are guaranteed of having a winning record on this road trip. They won the first three games on this trip against the Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets before losing at the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, 111-101. . .Jalen Brunson (24 points), Luka Doncic (17 points, seven rebounds, 10 assists), Dwight Powell (14 points), Spencer Dinwiddie (12 points, eight boards, three steals) and Dorian Finney-Smith (11 points, seven rebounds) led the way for the Mavs against the Sixers. . .Following tonight’s game, the Mavs start a two-game home stand Monday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The home stand concludes with Wednesday’s game against the Rockets before the Mavs head back out on the road to play in Minnesota on Friday. .  . On Dec. 13 in Dallas, the Mavs stung the Hornets, 120-96. The Mavs broke out to a 37-20 lead in that game after the first quarter and stretched it to 70-43 at halftime. It was a game Doncic missed due to a left ankle injury. However, Trey Burke came off the bench to pour in 22 points in just 23 Jalenminutes on 9-of-14 shooting. Burke, who also distributed six assists, was 4-of-7 from three-point range. The Mavs shot 51.8 percent from the field and converted 19-of-41 three-pointers in that game, while the Hornets made only 39.5 percent of their field goals. . .The Mavs are 10-4 in their last 14 games. They also are 20-15 on the road. . .The Mavs are 6-4 on the last leg of a back-to-back.

About the Hornets: The Hornets should be well rested, because they haven’t played since defeating the Atlanta Hawks, 116-106, Wednesday. LeMelo Ball paced the Hornets with 22 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists. Also for Charlotte, Montrezl Harrell finished with 20 and six boards, and Miles Bridges added 18 points, six rebounds, six assists and two blocks. The Hornets outscored Atlanta, 54-39, in the second half and held Hawks All-Star point guard Trae Young to just nine points on 3-of-12 shooting. . .Charlotte has won five of its last seven games, including its last three. In addition to Wednesday’s victory over the Hawks, the Hornets won at New Orleans (142-120) on March 11 and won at Oklahoma City (134-116) this past Monday. . .Terry Rozier and Kelly Oubre Jr. tallied 20 points apiece in the 24-point loss to the Mavs earlier this season in Dallas. Ball missed that game because he was in the NBA’s health and safety protocols. . .Bridges leads the Hornets with 20 ppg and seven rebounds per game, Ball is averaging 19.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg and 7.4 apg, and Rozier averages 19.7 ppg. Also, Oubre is averaging 15.8 ppg, Harrell averages 13.2 ppg and 6.3 rpg, and P.J. Washington is averaging 10.1 ppg and 5.4 rpg.
