About the Mavericks: Luka Doncic is listed as questionable for this afternoon’s game with a strained left calf. The three-time All-Star missed the first three games of this series and hasn’t played since he was injured in the April 10 regular season finale against the San Antonio Spurs. . .With Thursday’s 126-118 win in Utah in Game 3 of this first-round playoff series, the Mavs have reclaimed home court advantage in this best-of-seven series. Game 5 is Monday in Dallas. A sixth game, if necessary, will be Thursday in Utah. Also, if a seventh game is needed, it will be played April 30 in Dallas. . .Jalen Brunson has been on an absolute tear in this series. While taking his game to another level, Brunson is averaging 32 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 5.0 apg in this series, and shooting 50.7 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from three-point range. Brunson tallied a career-high 41 points in Game 2 and added 31 points in Game 3. He is the seventh player in franchise history to score 30-plus points in consecutive playoff games. . .The Mavs had seven players score at least 12 points in the Game 3 victory over the Jazz. The only other time in the franchise’s playoff history that that’s occurred was during the April 28, 1988 first-round series against the Houston Rockets.
About the Jazz: After splitting the first two games of this best-of-seven series in Dallas, the Jazz went home brimming with confidence. Then, Game 3 happened. And the Jazz lost that game at home, 126-118, Thursday, in front of their fans. It was the first loss for the Jazz against the Mavs in 12 tries. . .The Jazz did get a burst of confidence during the Game 3 when they chopped a 17-point deficit down to 103-102 with 6:40 remaining in the game. But the Mavs ended the game on a 23-16 sprint. . .Donovan Mitchell tallied 18 of his game-high 32 points in the third quarter. The Jazz outscored the Mavs in the third quarter, 40-29. In that quarter, Utah was 14-of-17 from the field, 4-of-8 from three-point range and 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. . .Bojan Bogdanovic scored 12 of his 24 points in the third quarter. . .The Jazz shot 56.5 percent from the field in Game 3, including converting an amazing 30-of-41 shots from two-point land. However, it’s at the three-point line where the Jazz made their living this season with over 14 makes and over 40 attempts. But thus far in this series, the Jazz have yet to make 14 threes in any game, and they haven’t attempted 30 shots from downtown in either game in this series.
