Dallas started the game on a 23-4 run that looked like a tone-setter for the next three quarters — but San Antonio had other plans. Six Spurs 12 or more points in a game where they would come back to beat the Mavs in the fourth quarter.
Stat of the Game: The Spurs bench combined for 51 points.
Mavs Box: Luka Doncic led the way with 25 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Welsey Matthews finished with 13 points while Harrison Barnes added 11. Dorian Finney-Smith recorded 12 points off the bench.
Out: Dennis Smith Jr., J.J. Barea
With their last game being on Wednesday, the Mavs traveled to Indiana rest and ready to get back on the right track. Dallas once again struggled with the bench unit, but it was an early ejection by Luka Doncic that set the Mavs back in the second half. In the end, Dallas couldn’t get over the lack of playmaking without Doncic, Barea, and Smith Jr.
Stat of the Game: Domantas Sabonis and Tyreke Evans combined for 35 points off the bench.
Mavs Box: Harrison Barnes led the way with 20 points while Wesley Matthews followed behind with 17 points of his own. DeAndre Jordan recorded another double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Out: Dennis Smith Jr., J.J. Barea
For the first time in his career, Luka Doncic assisted on a Dirk Nowitzki bucket. Doncic drives left and draws the defense, only to find an open Nowitzki in the far corner for a shot he has taken thousands of times.

In a week with only two games and an early ejection of Luka Doncic, Wesley Matthews comes away with the player of the week award.
Supporting a new headband, Matthews shot 42 percent from behind the arc to go with three rebounds and three assists against San Antonio. He also finished with 12 points in the game, which would be the second leading scorer on the team behind Doncic.
In the second game of the week, Matthews started off the game scoring nine points in the first quarter. He would once again be the second leading scorer in the game for the Mavs by finishing with 17 points total.
