DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have signed free agent guard Yudai Baba (pronounced you-DYE bah-bah). Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Baba (6-4, 184) averaged 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.0 minutes per game for the Mavericks’ 2019 summer league squad that competed in Las Vegas. He went 6-of-12 (.500) from the floor (1-of-1 from deep) and a perfect 3-of-3 from the foul line in Dallas’ four preliminary round games (the team went 3-1 in those games), but missed the club’s tournament game with a right shoulder sprain.

The Toyama, Japan, native helped Alvark Tokyo win their second straight B. League title in 2018-19 after averaging 10.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game in 64 games. He took home B. League Final MVP honors after producing 12 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and two steals in the championship game against the Chiba Jets Funabashi.

The Mavericks’ 2019-20 training camp roster is now set at 20 players.
