Mavs guard Seth Curry appeared on DAC, 103.3 FM ESPN’s afternoon show, yesterday to talk about the team’s run, the play of Yogi Ferrell, and more.
Listen below for the full audio, with some highlights transcribed.
On the team’s run lately, including back-to-back wins against the Spurs and Cavs: We’re playing good basketball lately, over the past couple weeks. We’ve got some changes in the lineups, some guys got healthy, things of that nature. We’ve been playing good basketball. We’ve had confidence over the last couple games, especially against the Spurs. We played them a couple times but just couldn’t get over the hump.
On the small-ball starting lineup: I like a lot of things about it. First of all it’s a lot of space out there. We’ve got a lot of shooters out there who can knock down shots. We’ve got multiple playmakers with myself and Yogi, or when Deron’s in the lineup, whatever the case may be, a couple guys who can make plays with the ball, get in the lane and things like that. Obviously Dirk and HB draw a lot of attention, so that’s good for us with getting open looks.
On comparisons to his brother and father: It’s been there, to be honest. I can’t say it’s not. But me personally, I’ve dealt my whole life with being Dell Curry’s son growing up in Charlotte. There was a little bit more attention on me growing up. I was just focused on doing what I do, not really paying attention to the outsiders and what they say. Whether I played good or played bad, just focus on what I need to do to get better and be the best player I can be. I don’t really compare myself to them. That’s benefitted me well, going forward I’ll try to keep that same mindset.
