DEC. 18, 2023 (DALLAS) – Over the weekend, the Dallas Mavericks and Ruthie’s For Good delivered “Snacks of Kindness” to three community organizations, Bachman Lake Together, Texas Native Health and Family Compass, as part of Dallas Mavericks player Kyrie Irving’s “11 Days of Giving” initiative. The hundreds of families were served meals and gift packages with special ANTA gear and game tickets personally donated by Irving.
“Partnering with Ruthie’s For Good to provide ‘Snacks of Kindness’ to the families of North Texas is more than a gesture – it’s a testament to our collective dedication to community and compassion,” said Irving. “Seeing the smiles and feeling the gratitude of those we’ve served reinforces my belief that what we do for others can echo beyond the basketball court.”
“The opportunity provided to us by our friends at the Dallas Mavericks proved that kindness has no boundaries,” said Dr. Olga Martinez Hickman, Executive Director of Bachman Lake Together. “The engagement from everyone present brought together a community that has not historically had access to Dallas’ favorite team! Thank you to our friends at The Good Foundation, Ruthie’s Food Truck and the Dallas Mavericks for all you do.”
“We are so grateful for our Lakota brother for stepping up, showing love and helping our community,” said Jeremy Zahn, Community Relations with Texas Native Health. “Having Kyrie here in Dallas is so meaningful because it lifts indigenous voices and brings light to our struggles, situations, and stories. Kyrie helps us bring awareness to who we are and what we look like.”
“All I can say is wow. We’ve hosted an annual Holiday Party for many years now and having the support of Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks made it extra special,” said Ona Foster, CEO of Family Compass. “The best part of this event to me was seeing the entire community come together for a good cause – from the many volunteers, to our dedicated Family Compass staff, to the Dallas Mavericks team and, of course, the wonderful Ruthie’s crew, everybody played a different role and that is the beauty in diversity.”
Focused on creating meaningful connections, the Mavs will team up with Ruthie’s for community events throughout the season, supporting nonprofits and different groups by providing delicious meals while spotlighting their work and tireless efforts to make North Texas a better place.
