KYRIE IRVING NAMED WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DALLAS – The NBA announced today that Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, April 1 through Sunday, April 7. It marks the fifth time in his career that he has won the award and the first since 2014-15.

Irving (6-2, 191) led the Mavericks to a 3-1 week with averages of 31.8 points (.524 FG%, .400 3FG%, .931 FT%), 5.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals in 40.3 minutes per game.

The eight-time All-Star topped 25 points in all four games, helping Dallas close out the week with three straight victories. Irving capped off the week by posting a Mavericks career-high 48 points (15-25 FG, 3-8 3FG, 15-17 FT), including 25 in the fourth quarter and overtime, in Dallas’ 147-136 come-Kyriefrom-behind victory over Houston on April 7. His 19-point fourth quarter marked the most points by a Maverick in the fourth period this season and helped Dallas overcome a 22-point first-half deficit.

Irving has played in 29 straight games dating back to Feb. 5 and Dallas has gone 22-7 in that stretch. The Mavericks have gone 14-2 in their last 16 games, their best 16-game stretch since their championship season in 2010-11.

For the season, Irving is averaging 25.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.3 steals and 34.9 minutes in 56 games (all starts). He is one of nine players averaging at least 25.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 2023-24 (min. 50 games played). The other eight were all All-Stars in 2024 (Luka Dončić, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, LeBron James and Nikola Jokić). Irving is shooting 49.6% (546-1,101 FG) from the field, 41.0% (166-405 3FG) from 3-point range and 90.7% (186-205 FT) from the foul line on the year, in reach of his second career 50-40-90 season (2020-21).

Among league leaders, Irving ranks fifth in free throw percentage (.907), 13th in scoring (25.8 ppg), tied for 19th in steals (1.25 spg), 20th in minutes (34.9 mpg), 31st in 3-point percentage (.410) and 37th in assists (5.1 apg).

With Irving winning Player of the Week, a Maverick has now garnered the honor in consecutive weeks and four of the last seven weeks (Dončić, Feb. 5 to 11, March 4 to 10, March 25 to 31).
