DALLAS – During his 10-year career with the Los Angeles Clippers, DeAndre Jordan shot a miserable 44.6 percent from the free throw line.
However, 20 games into his first season with the Dallas Mavericks, Jordan is shooting a splendid 77.1 percent from the charity stripe. It’s the kind of 180 degree turnaround that has certainly gotten the attention of his former coach – the Clippers’ Doc Rivers.
“I’m loving it,” Rivers said prior to Sunday night’s game between the Mavs and Clippers. “We’re going to foul the hell out of him every time. I told him that.
“We’re going to check him. We’re going to see how good it really is.”
The Mavs worked with Jordan on some technical aspects of his free throw shot, and it has paid off handsomely.
“I’ve always said with him, his form is good,” Rivers said. “The ball just didn’t go in.
“Change of scenery in that way, because that’s a lot mental, so we’re definitely fouling him when he gets back to LA because he’ll have all that negative memory back, so we’ll bring it back.”
