Club Mavericks Members filed into the lower bowl at American Airlines Center last Monday, Jan. 13, not for a scheduled game but a night full of games, nonetheless.
The entire Mavericks roster, DJ Shippy, and MavsTV’s Mark Followill and Jeff “Skin” Wade teamed up on an off day to host an evening of entertainment for some of the most loyal Mavs fans.
The event featured players participating in a series of games, some of which were made popular by the Tonight Show on NBC, and live interviews for the crowd of Club Maverick Members, who are all season ticket holders.
“We love the chance to see our Club Maverick Members outside of game nights, and having the whole team come hang out with us is the best reason to get together,” said Danielle Mansell, vice president of Mavs customer service & season ticket member experience. “We absolutely appreciate our members and hope they had a great time!”
The night offered an exclusive opportunity for fans to connect with the players they’re cheering for night after night and get a glimpse of their personalities off the court.
Markieff Morris, Naji Marshall, Dante Exum and Brandon Williams finished a perfect four-for-four when guessing objects they blindly felt in mystery boxes that included a bowl of spaghetti among other items.
An interview with P.J. Washington followed before fans were propelled back into the action when Klay Thompson, Quentin Grimes, Jaden Hardy, and Jazian Gortman competed in a three-point shoot-out with a series of random objects.
The highlight reel included one of the NBA’s hottest 3-point shooters in Hardy, sinking a Champ stuffed animal from the corner and a valiant effort from Grimes to hurl a family-size bag of M&M’s candies through the hoop that exploded upon impact with the hardwood.
In a battle of the best friends, Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving faced off against Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber in a game of Catchphrase that showcased the pairs’ off-court chemistry and eventually ended with everyone declared a winner.
The event wrapped up with a LEGO building battle, where LEGO enthusiast Dereck Lively II didn’t take it easy on Olivier-Maxence Prosper and Kessler Edwards, completing his two mini-builds in just a few minutes with minimal guidance from the instruction manual.
And, just like an episode of the Tonight Show, the event concluded with a musical guest and performance from the Mavs Drumline and D-Town Crew.
Club Maverick Members will continue to experience exclusive events throughout the season, solidifying the connection between the team and its season ticket holders. To join the Club Maverick waitlist, visit Mavs.com/ClubMaverick.
