How to watch the Mavs with a TV antenna

Broadcast_FAQ

Our goal is to make it as easy for as many Mavs fans to watch Mavs games as possible. Partnering with WFAA Ch.8 and KFAA Ch. 29 allows us to reach over 3.1 million households for free, over-the-air. This is just one of many investments the Mavs plan to make to further engage and respond to our growing fan base.

MFFLs living in the DFW metroplex and surrounding areas will be able to watch the Mavs on WFAA Ch. 8 (15 games) and KFAA Ch. 29 (ALL non-exclusive national games) for FREE over-the-air with the use of a digital tv antenna. For more on how free over-the-air tv works, or to learn how to set up an antenna, visit wfaa.com/mavs.

A minimum of 15 games in the 2024-25 season will air on WFAA Ch. 8, and all regular season games (including the 15 on WFAA) will air on KFAA Ch. 29. WFAA Ch. 8 will also broadcast 5 Mavericks games as part of the exclusive national NBA schedule: Dec. 25 vs. Minnesota, Jan. 25 vs. Boston, Feb. 23 @ Golden State, Mar. 9 vs Phoenix, and Mar. 16 vs. Philadelphia.

The Mavs organization received overwhelmingly positive feedback from fans through social media and emails expressing how easy it was to see the games on WFAA Ch. 8 last season. Because of that feedback, we decided to make the entire season more accessible to fans.

KFAA is a full power UHF (ultra high frequency), high-definition station owned and operated by WFAA parent company TEGNA. As a UHF station KFAA’s signal strength is stronger than WFAA. The Spanish-language content currently airing on Ch. 29 will be relocated to a different channel prior to the start of the Mavericks regular season (Oct. 24), and KFAA will be rebranded as it becomes a locally-programmed independent station. Details on Ch. 29 will be communicated to fans and viewers ahead of the start of the season, including where to watch Ch. 29 by provider.

Different distributors (cable, satellite, and internet providers) carry local channels in different places on each lineup. KFAA distribution or channel position is likely to change between now and the start of the season to give the most fans possible the opportunity to watch games. Stay tuned to WFAA, WFAA.com, Mavs.com, and your local guide for more detailed information as the season approaches.

Talent for the 2024-25 Mavs Season will be announced at a later date.

All non-national games will also be broadcast on TEGNA stations in Waco (KCEN and KAGS), Tyler (KYTX), Midland-Odessa (KWES), Abilene (KXVA), El Paso (KDBC), Amarillo (KFDA), Lubbock (KCBD, KMYL, and KLCW), Wichita Falls & Lawton, OK (KJBO), Sherman (KXII), Texarkana & Shreveport, LA (KSHV), Laredo (KXNU, KGNS, and KYLX), Harlingen-Weslaco-Brownsville-McAllen (KGBT), and San Angelo (KIDY). The station websites and local game listings from your distributor will be updated as the season progresses. TEGNA and the Mavericks will also be working with partner broadcast companies to announce additional Texas markets in the coming days.

Out of state Mavs fans can watch games via NBA League Pass – the league’s live game out of market subscription service at https://www.nba.com/watch/league-pass-stream.

KMPX is not impacted in any way, and WFAA is not impacted on DirecTV or AT&T Uverse.

Disney and DirecTV are currently negotiating carriage for all ABC affiliates on DirecTV STREAM. Their dispute has impacted all ABC stations and we are hopeful that Disney and DirecTV will resolve their dispute soon.
