Klay Thompson, was born on February 8, 1990, in Los Angeles, California, to Mychal Thompson a former first overall pick of the 1978 NBA draft, and Julie Thompson a former collegiate volleyball and track and field athlete. As a senior at Santa Margarita Catholic High School, Thompson averaged 21 points per game and led the team to a Division III State Championship appearance. During the state championship, Thompson set a state finals record with seven three-pointers in a game. After completing high school Klay was a four-star recruit and committed to play at Washington State University. During his three seasons with the Cougars, Thompson was named First Team All-Pac-10 in his sophomore and junior years. In the 2011 Pac-10 tournament, he set tournament records with 43 points and eight three-pointers.
In the 2011 NBA Draft, Thompson was selected by the Golden State Warriors as the 11th overall pick. Throughout his career, Klay has been known for his elite shooting, defensive prowess, and clutch performance. Thompson is a 5x NBA All-Star, 2x All-NBA third team, 2019 NBA All-Defenseive second team, a 4x NBA Champion, and is currently just outside the top five in three-pointers made in NBA history.
